Good morning,

Thanks to Michele Waltz for drafting some talking points related to the CESC vote, per request. Here you go!

Consideration for retiring CESC

  * WSSSC has been discussing, supporting and strategizing how to support CESC for a decade.
  * Decreased/limited career centers impacts who colleges can send-little to no consistent college approach to career services.
  * Decade of challenge for consistent and regular engagement and attendance of CESC members. Not meeting 2/3 membership as outlined in WSSSC bylaws.
  * Career Services is central to Guided Pathways work. Despite the hard work and dedication of CESC active members, career services is not elevated in importance. The council structure is hindering the work and not supporting dedicated practitioners
Next Steps

  * Continue to meet with current CESC leadership to engage and elevate their ideas/work
  * Imbed career services professional development in Guided Pathways work; ensuring those doing the work are empowered.
  *   Consider an affinity group
  * Continue listserv under new name
  * Convene WSSSC work group, lead by SBCTC, to recommend next steps.
