Subject: [Pres] White People Working On It: Towards an Antiracist WA CTC System

Dear College Presidents,

I wanted to let you know of an innovative and extremely important professional learning opportunity that I hope you will consider sharing with your college communities.

Please see the announcement below for an upcoming event: "Working Together Towards an Antiracist CTC system<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1pNyrUdGGHYs0hL-FqcnTpwOHq4-8IJtdXI9IjC6Cjms/edit?usp=sharing>." The dates are April 21st and 22nd, 2022. This event will be fully online.

Our volunteer planning team<https://bit.ly/3gLU7Fq>, "Friends of FSOCC," was formed at the request and invitation of the Faculty & Staff of Color Conference (FSOCC) planning committee. Over the past year, we have been working in conjunction with and under the supervision of the FSOCC planning team.

The conference is geared toward white-identifying folks with European ancestry and people who benefit from white privilege. Our goal is to convene faculty, staff, administrators, and other professionals who want to evolve in our journey towards being anti racist and work to collaboratively dismantle systemic racism at our colleges and universities, our CTC system, and our communities. This virtual event space is designed to help us collectively interrogate and challenge the racist systems we have built and benefited from.

We will be opening up registration this week. However, I wanted you all to have a heads-up so your faculty, staff, and administrators who are interested can start working through your institutional funding channels now.

We know this is a tight turnaround. Therefore, to aid your employees in getting institutional paperwork/permission process started, here is an "At a Glance" Agenda: https://bit.ly/3KHA3Q<https://bit.ly/3KHA3QG>

Please let us know if you have any comments, any questions, and of course, any concerns. Contact a member of the planning team<https://bit.ly/3gLU7Fq> or send an email to whitepeopleworkingonit at gmail.com<mailto:whitepeopleworkingonit at gmail.com>

Peace,

Jen

"At a Glance" Agenda: https://bit.ly/3KHA3QG

The Friends of FSOCC was formed at the request of the Faculty & Staff of Color Conference (FSOCC) planning committee. Working in conjunction with and under the supervision of the FSOCC planning team, we have created a virtual event space for us to interrogate and challenge the racist systems we've built and benefited from.

We will build coalitions and work together as a collective to:

* interrogate how we individually and collectively perpetuate systems of white supremacy & capitalism,

* strategize ways we can dismantle white supremacy, and colonization

* create liberatory spaces for all of us,

* become part of the solution in all of the -ism words

This conference is geared toward white-identifying folks with European ancestry and people who benefit from white privilege. We invite faculty, staff, administrators, and other professionals who want to evolve in our journey towards being anti racist and work to collaboratively dismantle systemic racism at our colleges and universities, our CTC system, and our communities.

This work is aligned with the mission of Guided Pathways and the commitment of the State Board for Community and Technical Colleges (SBCTC) to lead with racial equity.
