Hello all,

Here is a link to the web page that walks through the process for ordering masks (or other PPE) from the state.
PPE Backstop :: Washington State Department of Health<https://www.doh.wa.gov/AboutUs/ProgramsandServices/EmergencyPreparednessandResponse/PPEBackstop>

IHEs will likely need to make the request via their local governments-either the local emergency management agency or local health jurisdiction Here is the link to the contact info for Local Emergency Management Access Washington - Emergency Contact Information by County<https://access.wa.gov/topics/emergency/resources/Contact/List.html>
Here is the link to the contact info for Local Health Jurisdiction Local Health Departments :: Washington State Department of Health<https://www.doh.wa.gov/AboutUs/PublicHealthSystem/LocalHealthJurisdictions>

Note: the state can direct ship to an IHE if the IHE and Local govt prefer, we just need the request to come in through this system.

Regarding the at-home tests, at this time, we do not have supplies to allocate or make large distributions to any groups beyond the groups and mechanisms called out in the governor's press briefing:

  *   K-12 schools
  * Local Health/Tribes and their community partners
  *   The Public Portal
We are continually trying to procure more tests, but the supply chain is very strained and the demand for tests continues to be very high.

However, students/staff of IHEs CAN use the public portal to order a test kit. We expect this to go live within a few days. Also, they can use the federal site COVIDtests.gov - Free at-home COVID-19 tests<https://www.covidtests.gov/> which is already live

Hi John -

Just want to touch base to see if you or the DOH folks have any additional information to share related to testing and masking. Any additional resources would certainly be welcome by our campus leaders given ongoing pandemic-related efforts. Thank you.

Hi All,

The definition of fully vaccinated has not changed

However, the updated CDC quarantine guidance has updated terminology around vaccinations AND who does not have to quarantine does account for receipt of booster among adults.

There are some nuances, but in short. The following people do NOT need to quarantine if exposed

  * You are ages 18 or older and have received all recommended vaccine doses<https://gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.cdc.gov%2Fcoronavirus%2F2019-ncov%2Fvaccines%2Fbooster-shot.html&data=04%7C01%7Clacy.fehrenbach-marosfalvy%40doh.wa.gov%7Cb9574d6e5cee4b0d955108d9dbc0741e%7C11d0e217264e400a8ba057dcc127d72d%7C0%7C0%7C637782441918370058%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000&sdata=NeZri%2B8TTD%2FY5AQyAC%2BGK82Al9v8klRAJ3ZLEIj6dao%3D&reserved=0>, including boosters<https://gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.cdc.gov%2Fcoronavirus%2F2019-ncov%2Fvaccines%2Fbooster-shot.html&data=04%7C01%7Clacy.fehrenbach-marosfalvy%40doh.wa.gov%7Cb9574d6e5cee4b0d955108d9dbc0741e%7C11d0e217264e400a8ba057dcc127d72d%7C0%7C0%7C637782441918370058%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000&sdata=NeZri%2B8TTD%2FY5AQyAC%2BGK82Al9v8klRAJ3ZLEIj6dao%3D&reserved=0> and additional primary shots<https://gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.cdc.gov%2Fcoronavirus%2F2019-ncov%2Fvaccines%2Frecommendations%2Fimmuno.html&data=04%7C01%7Clacy.fehrenbach-marosfalvy%40doh.wa.gov%7Cb9574d6e5cee4b0d955108d9dbc0741e%7C11d0e217264e400a8ba057dcc127d72d%7C0%7C0%7C637782441918370058%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000&sdata=XPZ%2B1MTZ90LtSC3KwRcygA6ZV11Ud5DFSZcQ3gleHDQ%3D&reserved=0> for some immunocompromised people.

We are in the process of updating our various guidance docs but this is going to take a few days (including over the weekend) and CDC issued another update earlier this week. We are connecting with Local Public Health on this tomorrow, but our tentative recommendation is that IHEs follow the general public recommendations, given that CDC essentially recommended that K-12 schools do so. More to come.

Masks or other PPE should be requested through the typical process, which is through local emergency management or public health to the state. Meaning, community colleges, universities, etc should contact their local emergency management or public health department to request supplies. I asked our team to get some instructions for how to do this to share (many community orgs, hopsitals, etc already know). Using this process is necessary because of the way the supplies were procured and paid for.

Tests can be requested directly from DOH for those IHEs that have been requesting them. Please note: at this time, only a small portion of the at-home tests are actually here. I am aware there is a question pending about IHEs having access longer term and we'll work through that. We have other testing supplies available, including rapid point of care tests.

I understand people are wanting clarity and information as soon as possible. We are working towards that

Hi John and Lacy -

I had a chance to watch today's press conference with Governor Inslee where he noted the 1 million COVID-19 tests that will be sent to K-12 schools, which will also receive a sizable number of the 10 million available masks (also noted below).

As you know, college students are a highly mobile population. Is it possible for the community colleges and universities to receive some of the additional masks and tests? Is there a process to make a formal request? I know that they would be well utilized on campuses across our state as they continue to serve many students in person.

Thank you for the consideration.

Paul

As Washington state is experiencing a dramatic rise in COVID cases due to the Omicron variant, Gov. Jay Inslee announced steps today to contain the spread. Inslee did not announce any rollbacks, restrictions or closures. Inslee also talked about his strong desire to keep students in classroom learning.

The governor's announcement had three main components:

  *   Expanding testing
  *   Increasing vaccination availability
  *   Free masks
