FAC was targeted in a scam and luckily they were smart and did not fall for it. Please see the email chain below and let your councils know that this is out there and to be aware before responding to email requesting money.

A major red flag was that although they tried to make it appear legit, they did not use a college email address and the grammar was bad.………….

Hi Nanette,

Please see below. I am the Financial Aid Council (FAC) Treasurer and was recently targeted in an attempted scam regarding our FAC bank account, asking me to transfer a large sum to a vendor. Whoever sent the email knew that I was the FAC Treasurer and Teresa is the FAC President. I am guessing this came from the member info publicly available on the SBCTC website for the commissions/councils. I wanted to let you know in case other councils were similarly targeted and may need to be notified to keep an eye out for scams like this one.
