Colleagues: here is information about new funding opportunities in Running Start. Joe

Hello All,
I am excited to share out two funding opportunities to support our Running Start students during the 2022-2023 academic year. We recognize that this isn't all the necessary information needed or an ideal timeline and we appreciate your patience in this process. More information will be coming your way next week. For now, please review the below and share widely.

Questions? More information will be coming to you next week. Otherwise please contact Christine McMullin cmcmullin at sbctc.edu<mailto:cmcmullin at sbctc.edu> Policy Associate for Student Services. She will be handling these while I am on maternity leave-thank you Christine!!

The 2022-23 Running Start ESSER Funds Program Application will be released on May 6, 2022.
The Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) is partnering with the State Board for Community and Technical Colleges (SBCTC) to offset learning loss for students that qualify for the Running Start Program by providing additional funding to colleges to equitably provide:

  * Support for students pursuing career and technical education (CTE) opportunities, including professional technical courses, that support the completion of a CTE Sequence Graduation Pathway and progress toward certificate or degree completion.
  * Support for students to complete the required college success preparatory course in the summer to ensure they gain an understanding of the skills and attitude needed to succeed in college environment as a Running Start student.
  * Support for students to use the summer quarter for credit recovery to ensure on-time completion of a high school diploma.

Funds are available for all colleges that successfully complete an application through the Online Grant Management System (OGMS<https://ogms.sbctc.edu/>) by the required deadline of May 19, 2022.
A technical assistance webinar will be held on May 3, 2022 from 10:00am-11:00am. Registration is not required and will be recorded and posted.

Summer 2022 Running Start Funding
In an effort to expand equitable access to dual credit consistent with OSPI's priority of providing rigorous learner-centered options in every community, the legislature has made a significant new investment to expand Running Start into the summer term to increase flexibility in students' course scheduling and the likelihood of achieving an associate degree while still in high school. The legislature has invested $3,000,000 to support additional Running Start enrollment in the 2022 summer term for current Running Start students (more guidance on eligibility coming soon), including Class of 2022 high school graduates who are 15 or fewer credits from earning an associate's degree through any of the state's community and technical colleges.

An OSPI bulletin along with SBCTC guidance for colleges will be available next week.
