Subject: SBCTC Education Division Staffing Changes External

Dear Colleagues,

I write you this afternoon to share some staffing changes in the Education Division of the State Board for Community and Technical Colleges.

Over the past year, there has been a lot of opportunity for us to rethink how we are supporting our colleges.

With that in mind, we have made the following changes since the onset of the pandemic:
• Expanded the Student Success Center team to include Jennifer Whetham and Alissa Sells.
• Built a holistic student services and support department with the incorporation of the student support programs team under Dr. Joe Holliday’s leadership.
• Elevated the former accessibility technology policy administrator position to policy associate position that directly reports to the deputy for education.

I also want to let you know of the departure of Dr. Mark Jenkins and Dr. Stephan Gance from the State Board, effective June 30, 2021. Between now and June 30, they will be working to wrap up several projects. Effectively immediately I will serve as the interim Director for Educational Technology. Over the course of the next several months, the Educational Technology team and I will be making recommendations on how to best serve students and move the department forward. Please join me in thanking Dr. Jenkins and Dr. Gance for their years of service to the State Board and the community and technical college system. We wish you the best as you begin your next chapter!

In addition, Dr. Bill Moore will be retiring from his K-12 Partnership Director position as of June 30, 2021 and will begin a period of phased retirement for the upcoming year to focus on wrapping up the Bridge to College grant work. Thank you, Bill, for continuing your service to the system—happy we get to collaborate with you for another year!

The K-12 Partnership Director position will be reshaped as a Director of Dual Credit & K-12 Alignment position, consolidating the work being done across our agency on dual credit (i.e. Running Start, College in the High School, etc.) and will collaborate with the Workforce Department to fold in CTE Dual Credit. A search will begin immediately for this hire.

If you have any questions or would like to connect, please feel free to reach out to me on my cell or email.

Sincerely,
Carli
