Subject: 2020 Fall Counselor Workshops: Virtual Experience

Good morning, outreach and recruitment colleagues:

It's time again to start planning for Washington Council for High School-College Relations Fall Counselor Workshops! What are these workshops? See the "additional questions" section below.

This year, the Washington Council will hold two virtual workshops, one on Sept. 15 and one on Sept. 17.

Colleges and universities are being asked for two items:

* a 2-4 minute video (guidelines are attached) that will go on the Washington Council's YouTube channel (community and technical colleges will have our own playlist)

* if available, someone to be part of the live Q&A session at the end of the program. If you'd like to participate, please let me know by Aug. 1 which day (or both days).

For more information about the workshop's format and the agenda, take a look at Jana's email below.

As always, please let me know if you have questions.

Thanks, everyone!

Katie

Additional workshop information

* What are the Fall Counselor Workshops? About 900 high school counselors, advisors, and career specialists gather annually at these events for the latest information from two-year colleges, four-year public and private universities, OSPI, SBCTC, the Washington Student Achievement Council, and others to share ideas, network, and more.

* Does it cost anything? It's free!

* Why does my college get to participate in the workshops? Participation in the 2020 Fall Counselor Workshops is a benefit of your college's paid annual membership in the Washington Council. If your college has not yet renewed its 2020-21 dues, you may do so through the Washington Council<https://www.eventbrite.com/e/washington-council-for-high-school-college-relations-202021-membership-tickets-107155236196>. Memberships must be renewed by the end of the summer. Dues are required per campus; a single district membership does not cover the individual campuses. If you have questions about the status of your membership, please contact info at washingtoncouncil.org<mailto:info at washingtoncouncil.org>. I do not have access to membership information.

Fall Counselor Workshop Virtual Experience
Hello everyone!

I hope this email finds you well and you aren't too stir crazy in our current environment. The amount of things that have changed about our work is amazing. I'm finding the silver lining in it all, we are a part of a historic pandemic where we've flipped everything we do and are looking towards a new normal.

One of the things we are changing will be this fall's two weeks of Counselor Workshops, offering two virtual workshops vs. nine in-person workshops. There is so much uncertainty that the committee and Washington Council board felt it was the right decision to make for this year. It'll be hard not to physically see everyone or spend two weeks on the road but hopefully we will very soon!

We do have a plan in place and below are all the details. Please review the full email and attachment. I've tried to provide you all the details possible. If I missed anything, let me know.

Fall Counselor Workshop One: September 15th & Fall Counselor Workshop Two: September 17th

  * High school counselors will register on Eventbrite (LIVE as of today!)
     * Receive a link to the Zoom Webinar in early September
     * Receive clock hour information after the workshops, awarded by WSCA
     * Cost will be $25 per counselor

  * The Handbook will be available online prior to the workshops (your institution will receive information about this in the summer)
  * Videos will be available prior to the workshops on Washington Council's YouTube channel
     * Details are in the attachment
