We have good news to share! We recently received word from the Office of Financial Management that our system will receive over $40 million in federal funding from the Governor's Emergency Education Relief Funds (GEER). These one-time funds were made available to governors in the CARES Act passed by Congress in March. We are pleased that Governor Inslee is electing to provide all $57 million of these funds to public institutions of higher education to help us weather the financial hardships caused by COVID19. The Legislature reviewed the Governor's distribution plan and has not raised any concerns. Below is a summary of the Governor's plan for our system. Colleges will have until September 30, 2021 to spend these funds. We are awaiting an official award letter from OFM with more information on how and when we will receive these funds. We will keep you informed as new information comes in. We will discuss this on the WACTC call tomorrow morning.

Thank you to our staff for providing the data to OFM to help them arrive at this conclusion.
