On behalf of the Washington Association of Community and Technical Colleges Student Association.

Attached you will find the 2021 WACTCSA Legislative Action Agenda. This agenda was developed in remote operations through an invitation for all student leaders to engage in a legislative canvas shell. This shell was developed between the Council for Unions and Student Programs, student leaders, and the State Board for Community and Technical College Education Division leaders. Thank you to all for your continued assistance in ensuring student engagement in legislative work.

The three legislative action items are the cumulative product of this work. 11 submissions from CTC’s throughout the state showed the deep commitment to student success. This commitment, as represented by the legislative agenda, focused on expanding programs for our most vulnerable students. Students engaged in the canvas shell voted on their top three submissions, which are:

  *   Increase college affordability and financial assistance for CTC students
  *   Increase resources for mental health counseling
  *   Expanding the working child connection care program

On behalf of the CUSP Legislative Committee, we appreciate your on-going support of and advocacy for Washington’s Community and Technical College students. It’s going to be a great year of student advocacy and engagement in the legislative process.
