At a recent Instructional Council (IC) meeting (October 24-25), many of you expressed that you need clarification about how to address legislative requirements associated with ESSB 5410. That legislation defines language about Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), and Cambridge (CI) information that all CTCs and BIs are required to post on their websites.

SBCTC has worked diligently to inform all CTCs about ESSB 5410. SBCTC has also provided resources to support CTCs in meeting the requirements of this legislation. Specifically, we updated the SBCTC Policy Handbook (see 4.60.51-4.60.53<https://www.sbctc.edu/colleges-staff/policies-rules/policy-manual/chapter-4.aspx>) to reflect legislation requirements. Additionally, we have provided the required language and charts or crosswalks that each college must post on its website. The required language and AB and IB Crosswalks, which were developed and approved by ATC and IC, respectively, are provided for you here:

RCW 28B.10.054<https://app.leg.wa.gov/RCW/default.aspx?cite=28B.10.054> indicates that credit policies regarding all advanced placement and international baccalaureate exams must be posted on campus web sites effective for the 2019 fall academic term. Please post (not link) this information on your college's website (suggested location: under dual credit or transfer) by November 1, 2019 deadline. On this date, an audit will be conducted and a report will be sent to the legislature identifying which CTCs are not in compliance.

Each college must also create a process for retroactively awarding IB exam undergraduate college credits, which fall under the terms of this legislation and pertains to students who first enrolled at the college in the 2018-2019 academic year.
