Subject: [Wsssc] Fwd: Suicide Prevention in Higher Education Grant Program Request for Proposals

Colleagues: here is the RFP for suicide prevention grants, below and at link. Note the tight timeline. In case it isn’t indicated, this is a reminder that the first six grants must be awarded to public institutions (our colleges and the six public 4-year institutions).

Good luck with your applications!

Dear Colleagues,

The Washington Student Achievement Council (WSAC) is seeking proposals for projects that will help resource-challenged postsecondary education institutions create partnerships with health care entities to develop student suicide prevention programs.

Partnerships must include both a postsecondary education institution and a health care entity, and may include a wide variety of optional partners, such as any of the following:

· Community-based organizations.

· Additional postsecondary education institutions (In other words, a group of postsecondary education institutions may form a consortium to apply for a grant).

· Additional health care entities.

· Other partners that will enhance the ability of the partnership to develop and/or implement its project.

Postsecondary education institutions eligible to apply for a grant include public and private colleges and universities; private vocational schools; and cosmetology, barbering, and other schools authorized by the Washington State Department of Licensing. Though there is a limit of one proposal per postsecondary education institution, being an optional partner in a consortium does not count against that limit.

Projects may budget up to $60,000. At that budget level, we anticipate being able to award grant funding for up to seven projects. Regardless of budget level, we must award the first six grants to Washington’s public institutions of higher education.
