Is this something we should invite an ITC representative to? I’m thinking that in some cases if we’re doing a group purchase (i.e. if everyone is buying hobsons), does it make sense to try to push to have it included as a “core technology” and do it as a system purchase. I know that SBCTC has little appetite for additional projects in the IT realm right now, but possibly a phased plan could work, and it would resolve the issues of trying to determine which campuses have funds for a purchase right now as well as possibly drive down costs for campuses that are already in individual purchases as their contracts come up for renewal.

I like the idea of a summit. This might be a much better tactic for the Technology and Innovation part of the workplan than a survey.

Maybe attached to the Wednesday of the WSSSC winter meeting? Since the winter meeting is at Cascadia, we could host on Wednesday if Cascadia was not available; we’re just a few miles away.

A technology summit is a great idea. I support system approaches, where possible.

There were some plans for a technology summit, which ultimately got postponed/canceled (Joe?). The goal was to discuss some of the different technology options, as well as the opportunities and challenges/frustration some schools may have experienced (without the vendors present).

I think there is some very good learning to be had from institutions that have “gone down that road” and found something great ...or not so great. I believe we were also going to involve some tech staff at SBCTC.

Is this something we want to explore further? Timeline? I believe that sessions were being planned in the west and east.

I also feel compelled to note that multiple schools in WA have ended contracts with Civitas. Happy to share what we learned through that process.

Best,
Matt

Are any of you interested in having a conversation about trying to get a few school package on either Civitas or ZoGo Tech? They are both predictive analytic software tools that are pretty expensive. If we get a few schools interested we can see if we can get a better price. I know some schools already use Civitas and wouldn’t be interested.

Please let me know this week if you are interested in discussing the possibility.
