Subject: [Wfoutreach] CTC Outreach Meeting Spring Notes

Hello CTC Workforce Outreach!

Apologies for these notes coming a bit late. Phew! It has been a busy quarter and then I got married and now I am back! In this meeting, we talked a lot about mission, vision and next steps. See below for notes:

Follow-ups:

- Jenna- Share online eligibility survey

o We used Formstack to create this. Personally, I think it could be a lot better, but it is something new. This is helping us find and triage vulnerable workers. The other thing is that it comes to me in a excel document of sorts, which is a little clunky to work with. We are mostly using this for internal recruitment. We are trying to partner with faculty to give extra credit to people who complete the survey.

- Cindy- Share attestation form

- Ben- Occupation program covered by BFET. I believe we all have lists of what programs can be used by workforce funding. Ben, did you want to bring yours

- Amber- Lake Washington Tech Host next meeting over summer on a Monday in July.

Things going well

* Shoreline - created online eligibility survey for faculty to put on canvas for current students to check eligibility.

* LWIT - Going in to classrooms with demand decline list to check if students are potentially eligible for expanded eligibility

* Working with programs that have classrooms of vulnerable workers (i.e. early childcare)

* Partnering with Early Achievers Grant program to coordinate funding and support for ECE

* Donut Patrol (Donuts and Dollars) - going around giving out donuts for students who complete survey

Things we need support with

* Student coding - making sure students in eligible prof tech programs are coded properly and not identified as general transfer

Group moving forward

- In this meeting, we talked about turning this group from an informal meeting to something with more substance. We decided that the next meeting we would like to have as many colleges there to create some more structure for next year:

- Here are some ideas brainstormed for the Summer Meeting

1. Group norms - bring stuff to the table to share with everyone

2. Ask the two questions again - every meeting

3. Who attends? (KC colleges, Everett, Edmonds)

4. Use the listserve to pose questions - send individual responses and ask the initial asker to respond with a summary of responses.

5. Soliciting topics of value for future meetings

6. Inviting additional folks - only as guest speakers or if the extra person is adding value

Summer
Lake Washington Tech
Fall
Renton Tech
Winter
North Seattle
Spring
South Seattle or Highline?

Summer meeting

* Who is going to be regularly attending

* Participation, structure, listserve, location factor,

*         Leveraging Kirstan and WEC

* Intro summary of what the group is (purpose, official members)

*         Mission statement

* Monday afternoon in July for summer mtg. - Time and Date Still to be Determined

Guest speaker idea: DSHS talk about new policies, and outreach to ABAWDS
