Dear WCTCCA Friends,
We hope you are ending the school year on a good note and are all able to
take time for yourselves and your loved ones this summer.
Before we share some exciting news, we want to take a moment to express our
heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you for the opportunity to
serve as your President and Vice President for the Washington State
Community and Technical College Counselors Association. It has been an
honor and a privilege to work alongside such dedicated professionals, and
we are truly grateful for the support and collaboration we have shared.
With a mixture of emotions, we must also share some personal news. After
much consideration and discussion, we have made the difficult decision to
step down from our roles within the association at the end of this academic
year. While this decision was not made lightly, we believe it is the right
time for us to pass the torch to new leadership and allow fresh
perspectives to guide the future of WCTCCA.
Now, on to some exciting news! During recent conversations with our Tech
Rep, Matthew Cullan, an inspiring idea emerged that we believe has the
potential to enhance the value and accessibility of our association for
years to come. Matthew shared with us his experience with another
counselor’s association where member colleges take turns hosting monthly
training sessions, complete with a meal. This model not only fosters a
sense of community and collaboration but also significantly reduces
administrative burdens on the steering committee.
With this in mind, we are thrilled to propose the establishment of the
WCTCCA Monthly (OR QUARTERLY) Training Series. Under this initiative,
member institutions would rotate hosting responsibilities, offering
valuable training sessions, and networking opportunities to counselors
across Washington State.
We believe that this new approach will not only streamline administrative
processes but also create a more dynamic and inclusive environment for
professional development within our association.
As we prepare to transition to new leadership, we are committed to ensuring
a smooth handover process and are excited to see the WCTCCA continue to
thrive. Your input and feedback on this proposal are invaluable as we work
together to shape the future of our association.
Our most urgent request from members at this time is for you all to
consider whether you would be able to serve on the Executive Committee or
Steering Committee. A role in either committee is an excellent addition to
your resume, a chance to connect with your peers on a regular basis, and an
opportunity to effectively provide a space for your colleagues to connect
in a meaningful way. If you are interested in joining the leadership team,
please notify Sarah or Jennifer. We hope to get a voting poll out to
members by the end of the summer. If you would rather have a voice within
the organization but not take on a larger role, please consider being part
of the Steering Committee either as an Eastern or Western Representative.
Thank you once again for your unwavering dedication and support. It has
been an incredible journey serving as your President and Vice President,
and we are excited to see the amazing things that lie ahead for WCTCCA.
Warm regards,
