You could also use external/public location name to override the internal location name.

For reference, for example, you could add a public location name of ‘Please contact library for access to reference collection’

We've got the same question and don't really have any good answers yet.

When we turned requesting back on for *some* libraries and not others, I asked Ex Libris Support about possible options. They had 3 suggestions:

1) Edit the External Name for each Physical Location that's unavailable to add some phrase about things being unavailable
2) For each Physical Location that's unavailable, check the box to "Suppress from Discovery" in Alma config. Downside-- This will prevent bib records from displaying in Primo if the only holding is at a physical location suppressed at this level.
3) Put all the items in the unavailable locations into a special Work Order status

My understanding from discussions on Alma-L is that trying to do batch Work Order statuses is kind of like getting into a land war in Asia-- easy to get into, really difficult to get out of.  It doesn't seem possible to get things out of a Work Order status without either scanning barcodes one at a time (which we're not doing for tens of thousands of items), or running a script for an API job.  I'm not seriously considering the Work Order Status option.

I like Wade's idea of changing the "Available" label to something like "Present at" or "On the Shelf at."

Hi all,

I have a question regarding our set-up for curbside. When we closed our library, I changed our Primo Calculated Availability Text Label from Available at {1} to COVID Alert: Not Currently Available at {1}.

Now I’m worried that when I turn it back to Available at {1}, it will be misleading for students. For example, our reference books won’t really be available as we don’t circ them.

Any idea what we could do there?

My other question is: is there a way to edit the Get It section for items that aren’t requestable (again reference) to tell students they can call with special requests?
