Cool. Thanks, Wade! We do have the option activated to allow people to switch the language to Spanish, but it would nice to have the option to take people to the Spanish-language view, so this is very much appreciated.

Elena and others,

Following up on Elena’s question today about Primo in Spanish.

As a user, you can switch to the Spanish language in Primo simply by going to the ‘menu’ menu (upper right hand corner of Primo screen) and setting the language to Spanish. (Some of you may have the language choice hidden via customization, if you didn’t want that option showing).

So, that’s the easiest way to change Primo languages.

However, if you want to use different widgets, and perhaps different links or features with different customizations (like chat widgets), you need a separate view.

I made a copy of your (Skagit’s) default view, named it SKAGIT_ESP, and set the default language to Spanish.

You can see the results at:

https://sbctc-skagit.primo.exlibrisgroup.com/discovery/search?vid=01STATEWA_SKAGIT:SKAGIT_ESP

As you will see, many of the labels are in Spanish, but some labels are not.

You can edit the labels used when language is set to Spanish in the same way that edit them for English.

  *   Discovery > Labels

And after you select a code table, you can set the filter to show the Spanish labels instead of English labels, so that you can edit the labels used for Spanish.

Any Spanish language labels you customize will be used any time the Primo language is set to Spanish, either within Primo as a user, or as the default language for a view.

{To create a Primo landing page in Spanish, you can create a translated version of the \html\homepage\homepage_en.html, and put it in your customization package in that same directory as homepage_es.html)
