Sure, we can talk about that.

We did cover it a bit in the June 11, 2019 meeting, after a few of you had started using that feature set.

The notes in the call are brief, but the recording may have a walk-through.

Product docs at: https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Alma/Product_Documentation/010Alma_Online_Help_(English)/040Resource_Management/050Inventory/050Managing_Collections

To expose the collections tab in Primo VE, you just enable “Enable Collection Discovery Features” on the General tab of the Primo VE view edit screen.

And since we’re 3 years into our Alma / Primo cycle, now is a good time for you all to begin taking a more active role and lead in ongoing consortial discussions.

So, for this one, I’d like to ask for a volunteer who has been using the feature set to lead the discussion. Doesn’t have to be next week.

Just contact me directly (of reply here) if you’d like to present on this topic, and we can pick a Tuesday call that works. Or maybe we schedule a dedicated session.

Can we have a demo on how to set up a Collection at our next meeting?

At LCC, we are really enjoying creating and marketing Collections in Primo! Here’s a link to our collection page: https://sbctc-lowercolumbia.primo.exlibrisgroup.com/discovery/collectionDiscovery?vid=01STATEWA_LCCOL:LCCOL

Ian, our BAS faculty librarian has been creating sub-collections for our Teacher Education Collection (ebooks and journals) and it’s quite amazing! Link: https://sbctc-lowercolumbia.primo.exlibrisgroup.com/discovery/collectionDiscovery?vid=01STATEWA_LCCOL:LCCOL&collectionId=81114569380002815

Hi Dan,

I haven’t created a Collection, so I am looking into it now.

Thanks,
Traci

Hey Traci,

That link should remain persistent but it will be vulnerable to changes from Ex Libris. That is, if for whatever reason they decided to encode their facet attributes differently, it'll change how this result page is generated when users click on it. For now though it should be safe.

I think Ex Libris would encourage us to work with Collections in Alma instead. Collections are defined within Alma, which means we could rely on them to be grouped together, as opposed to this search result list which will change based on your collection inventory as well as how Primo behaves.

Hello,

If I create a link to a search in Primo, will it remain persistent? I want to create a link that will display all of our fiction titles in our collection. Here’s the link to the search I ran.
