Just FYI...

Thursday, Feb 6

Most interesting part to me are the panelists from ASU and SUNY, both of which I know as forward-thinking libraries.

Fair warning, I'm sure the Ex Libris panelist will see all OER roads leading to Leganto.

As the use of OER increases across institutions, libraries have the potential to play a valuable role and strategically support teaching and learning in a new way. In fact, the skills and expertise that librarians possess make libraries a natural ally in OER initiatives.

A recent Ithaka S+R US Faculty Survey revealed that around 60% of faculty are very interested in using Open Educational Resources (OER) in their courses, and 50% strongly agree with adopting new instructional approaches with OER. What is the role of the library in OER adoption? How can the library promote OER for Universal Design, diversity of materials, student success, and other key initiatives? What challenges does the library uniquely face regarding OER?

This moderated panel<https://event.on24.com/wcc/r/2166475/38334A10A53B8BA28FF57624B48F4835?partnerref=LJWeb20620> of experienced librarians and OER specialists will explore the key topics associated with OER and the library, including the good, the bad, and the ugly.

Panelists

Mark McBride, Library Senior Strategist, SUNY System Administration

Lisa Kammerlocher, Ed.D., Head, Instruction & E-Learning, Arizona State University

Jessie Ransom, Teaching and Learning Product Specialist, Ex Libris
