Thanks Wade. If I come up with something satisfactory I'll share it with folks.

You could look in the PCI and see which OA collections are currently activated, and just use that list to try to guesstimate the number of ebooks.

But you'd probably have to visit the individual provider sites, and do some research that way to get title count estimates. (That info might be a

Using Primo searches is a good thought. But there isn't a wildcard search you can use effectively.

My inclination would be to just use the #'s available coming out of Alma and into Analytics, and not worry about the PCI stuff.

Or maybe add in title counts from one or two of the large open access sources you have activated (Hathi, for example). Title counts from those collections should be pretty easy to get from the organizations' web sites.

Hey all,

I just had a thought about IPEDS and getting an accurate number on the eBooks. Because we're totaling eBooks that can be searched via platforms (Primo and the individual database platforms themselves), we need to use Analytics and get the vendors who aren't interfacing with Primo to provide guesses on how many eBooks were in the collection back around 6/30/18.

We also need to account for open access books available in Primo; however, we can't do that because PCI doesn't populate in Analytics, and I have no clue which open access databases were activated in PCI way back on 6/30/18.

Despite the open access column in the Electronic Collections report in the IPEDS dashboard, none of the OA databases we had activated in PCI back in summer of 2018 are showing up.

Part of me wants to say screw it and just provide the eBooks that Analytics can pull from that date.

As of right now (and I'm noting this for one year from now), a search result for "book" in our Primo yields over 2 million eBook records, because of the OA databases we have turned on. I'll have to make sure I pull this number on 6/30/19.

If you have any ideas/creativity, I'd love to hear it!
