It doesn't look like those 690 subject headings show up in dedicated browse searches in old Primo, either.

The browse search in Primo VE uses the same browse index as used by Alma, which relies on a preselected, and fixed, set of fields:

In Primo, I think (I'm not certain) you can customize the browse indexes on a per institution basis. Though, from what I can tell, we ever requested or made any such changes for SVC. So, Primo VE is basically doing the same thing that Primo did.

As ExL expands the ability to normalize within VE over time, we may see the ability to customize those browse indexes in the future.

I thought that was the case, too, so I was surprised when the browse by subject didn't work. One example of a location subject heading is SVC authors. The other is SVC Staff Training Collection.

Looks like we set up the 690 in your Primo VE as a local field, and it is set to be searchable.



But I don't know off the top of my head if that includes by keyword *and* browse indexes.



What's a good example of a local subject at SVC?

Elena, I just went into "Manage display and local fields" in Discovery configuration and I see that Wade had added a custom field to display for us, which happens to be 690. Here are some screenshots of what it looks like.  The two tabs, plus the normalization rule that was added on the second tab.  I hope this helps.  If not, I'm sure Wade can help out!

I just noticed that I can't do a subject browse for our 690 local subject headings. I swear this used to work in regular Primo. Do I need to switch something over in Alma to get these to show up again?



Has anyone else had this problem or know of a fix for this problem?
