I wonder if I need to wait a while before the change occurs? I've already tried closing and opening the browser window...

Weird. I was getting a complete error before for all ScienceDirect links, and now I'm taking directly into the article itself!

So, I just changed that parser parameter override to read science instead of college for Science Direct and that doesn't seem to have affected our Primo results. When they click Full Text in Primo, users are still taken to an additional page where they have to click on the article full text to get it.

It looks like this:

I'll call Science Direct tech support to see if there's something else we can do to link directly to the article, not just this page...

Thank you, Amy, for letting me know it worked!

Maybe Elsevier has moved content from "college" to "science" and is in the process of updating other vendors, and the search result page is a temporary fix? That's my wild guess :)

Naoko, overriding the parser parameters in each of our ScienceDirect/Elsevier collections worked for me. I copied and pasted the parameter that's there, and just switched out the word "college" for the word "science".

I then had reports of CINAHL articles not linking correctly to ScienceDirect articles and figured out that I did not change out the link resolver URL in Ebsco eadmin when we went to Primo VE! Fixing the URL in eadmin made the linking work in our Ebsco databases, but it takes me to the results list in ScienceDirect instead of directly to the article, as you described is currently happening for your Primo links to ScienceDirect. Not sure what to make of that.

Our Primo links to ScienceDirect are working, but instead of going directly to the article full view page as they used to in the past, they are going to the search result page that lists the article with the link to the full text. We are using the same default parser parameter as Amy's with the word "college" in it, but the article URL shows "science" as she noted. I was thinking going through the search result page is helping to resolve the links, but now I'm wondering if I should override the parser parameters if I want the links to go directly to the article full view page?

Thank you,

Naoko

?Excellent troubleshooting, Amy.

Yes, overriding the parser parameters and changing that word should do the trick.

ATTENTION: This email contains links. Please follow best practices before clicking on links.

I can see that the failed link says: https://www.sciencedirect.com/college/article/pii/S0140673609619796

And the correct link is: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0140673609619796

The parser parameter in the service level says: host=https://www.sciencedirect.com/college/ & prefsite = sd & shib=$$SHIBBOLETH & u_shib=$$U_SHIBBOLETH

So that seems to be where "college" is coming from instead of "science" in the incorrect link. Would overriding but replacing that one word do the trick or is it more complicated than that?

All of our Primo links to ScienceDirect (Elsevier) databases fail. Is anyone else experiencing this? I've looked at the collections at the service level and linking uses a default parser parameter. Would it help to do a parser parameter override with a shorter URL? Other thoughts?
