[Wactclc-primo] [External] RE: article links

Activating the Scopus collection for alternative coverage should create an additional link in the full display to the ebsco resource.

But, if the article citation from Scopus doesn't match the Ebsco metadata from Alma well enough, the Ebsco link in the citation won't appear.

So, it's a sort of "pick your poison" decision. Does activating alternative coverage give you enough decent links to make it worthwhile, or is it more trouble than it's worth.

Is it possible you were looking at a different citation earlier? That's the only explanation I can think of as to why you so sources earlier.

I'm confused.

I have Scopus activated in PCI because the Alternative Coverage list for Ebsco required it for several of our databases including Academic Search Premier and CINAHL.

But even when I'm logged in to Primo, on campus, I can't "View it." Except for one time earlier this morning when it DID show me the correct databases that it's in (CINAHL and PubMed Central), which I can't seem to replicate now. Here is me logged in to Primo, at that article, unable to view it:

The citation referenced in your permalink is coming from your Scopus activation in the PCI.

As you can see in the screenshot below, the Scopus PCI collection requires subscription for both search and delivery. This means that Scopus PCI citations will not appear in search results unless you are logged into Primo.
These PCI collections that require subscription for both Search and Delivery actually do require you be logged into Primo to search or view them, which is an exception to my earlier statement about not needing to be logged into Primo to search.

This is why you get that error message "Record cannot be displayed" when trying to use the permalink or view the record in Primo. You are not logged into Primo. Or Primo thinks you aren't (and that may be related to some authentication / SAML issue going on).

But I can generate the same "Record cannot be displayed" error if I use your Primo permalink, but change it to Pierce College Primo.

It's simply a collection that cannot be searched or viewed unless you have the collection activated in the PCI, and are logged into Primo (proving your subscription).

At some point this morning I got Primo to show me that this article is available in two databases: 1. CINAHL, and 2. PubMed Central.  For the life of me I can't get it to show me that again.

Hi Wade,

Thanks for helping.  That yellow bar is definitely new.  That's what threw me.  And a few minutes ago I kept getting an error screen when trying to access Primo that looked just like our logout screen from Primo.  I think there might be something going on with our SAML login for Primo.
