[Wactclc-primo] [External] RE: RE: No Facets in certain searches

Thanks, Wade. I put the code back. I'd rather have filters available for my original search results, than have the scope stick if a patron wants to do a subsequent search, but have no filters for my original search results. Sigh. Maybe I should take a sabbatical to learn more coding...

Yes, looks like for the facets to show from a search widget, the 'tab' attribute needs to be set.

But for the scope selection from the widget to 'stick' in Primo, the tab value needs to match the scope.

So, catch-22... either the facets display or the scope sticks (exception is 'everything' scope, since it's the default tab).

One solution is to simply your search widget and make it default to 'everything'. (see Pierce College, Highline College)

The other option is to write some javascript / jquery code to set the tab attribute value based on the search_scope attribute value.

I'm sure it's possible, but I don't have the code handy for you.

It's only doing that when launching from the widget, with the Library Catalog scope selected. So maybe something about removing that line of widget code yesterday, to keep the scope from resetting?

Is this when you start the search from the library web site, or from within Primo proper?

Also, what browser?

Hi again Primo friends,

Since this was so helpful last time, I have another fun mystery for us! I'm using Olympic College as a guinea pig since we seem to have similar settings. Certain searches will block out our facets completely, but it is only triggered by certain searches. I cannot figure out why the word bananas is one of those searches, but that seems to be a pretty consistent way to check it. I have also included "Blood and Bone" as a search that clears out the facets from the sidebar as well (see the screenshots below). It seems to only happen with the "library catalog" selected from the drop down. I'd love more detail about whether it's happening for others and whether it's Alma related or something I accidentally hid with my CSS. Thanks!
