I was a bit confused, because unless there are associated title records activated in Alma (or Kanopy is open source), the PCI activation shouldn’t really make anything appear in Primo.



But, looking at the PCI Activation wizard itself, I see this linking requirement for Kanopy:



“Linking to this collection will only work after additional configuration in the Primo Back Office > Advanced Configuration > Mapping tables > "Templates" table for this vendor. Fill in the required linking parameter(s) for your institution to make the links work. More information can be found in Salesforce article - "Kanopy resources - configuration required for activation"



Did you do this part already, as noted in the PCI Activation Wizard?



The link for your first listed record, Killing me Softly (1979) works because the link is actually generated from an 856, coming from a MARC record inside of Alma (991214154202809). So that one isn’t a PCI record.



(Just FYI, the quick way to tell this in Primo is to look for the MMS ID # in the record details in Primo. If the details list an MMS ID, then there is a record in Alma.)



The second record (Darwin’s Brave New World) is coming from the PCI, and has a link that looks like: https://login.edmonds.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http://INSTITUTIONID.kanopystreaming.com/node/100290, and the INSTITUTIONID makes me think that you have haven’t added a Kanopy institution ID to the PCI yet.





If not, you’ll just need to open a ticket with SF, and have them add your Kanopy institution ID. Then, the links in the records coming from the PCI should work as well.

Just wondering, did you load Kanopy MARC records into Alma?  (This looks like the most common Kanopy approach being discussed in Alma-L)



If so, activating the PCI collection may not add a lot of value. Unless you have seen (and already know) that the PCI activation adds additional info of value, like summaries, credits, etc, you might just stick with the Alma records you have loaded.



To troubleshoot the records that aren’t working, I would open an SF data services ticket, and provide examples of the non-working records (along with ezproxy credentials, so the SF folks can observe the issue directly)

I recently looked at activating the Kanopy Collection through the Alma Community Zone; however, there were not portfolios attached to the Community Zone record so I did not activate the collection through Alma.



Instead, I activated the Kanopy Collection through the PCI.  I am noticing some problems with the records and I don't know who I should talk to get the problem solved.  Many of the titles in Primo are displaying correctly and the links to the streaming video are working correctly.  Some of the titles in Primo are not displaying correctly and the links don't work.



The correct versions display "Online access" and the links work

The incorrect versions display "Full text available" and the links do not work

I don't know if this is the Primo problem or a Kanopy problem.  Has anyone else activated the Kanopy Collection in the PCI, and if so, are you also having this problem?



I activated the collection in the PCI last Tuesday and had to wait until Monday to see the results.  Is there a chance that the indexing in Primo isn't completed yet and the records will eventually be corrected, was there is mistake in the Primo indexing, or are the Kanopy records bad?



Can anyone shed light on my situation?
