Hi Charly,

Pierce College does the lottery process. We have 40 quarterly Chromebook/hot-spot kits. Each quarter we get about 200 applicants for the lottery, so supply does not meet demand. The only requirements to enter the lottery are a) you are currently taking classes and b) you self-identify as having financial need.

We also have some Weekly Chromebooks and tell students that don’t get a Quarterly kit to use our weekly checkouts.

Hi Charly,

We currently have quarter-long chromebook checkouts and they are first come, first served. This often leads me to fear for my life on the morning of the first day of the quarter, as I open the library by myself, lol!

One quarter we offered quarter-long chromebook/wifi hotspot combo packages (10), and we offered that through a lottery process. Students self-identified as in need. If you are interested I will send you additional details!

Hi everyone,

This is more of a policy/practice question rather than a technical inquiry. Our library is interested in lending Chromebooks for the entire quarter. In my cursory research of other institutions I see different degrees of formality ranging from first come, first served to eligibility- based lending involving an application and statement of need. Is anyone currently offering quarter-loans of technology and if so would you mind sharing your approach and documentation with me?
