Below are updates on federal rulemaking and State Authorization Network resources.

  *   New Veterans Affairs Professional Licensure Related Regulations - For Institutions Providing Educational Assistance:  Modifications of Approval Requirements for Courses Designed to Prepare Individuals for Licensure or Certification<https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2023/01/18/2023-00556/modifications-of-approval-requirements-for-courses-designed-to-prepare-individuals-for-licensure-or?utm_source=federalregister.gov&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=subscription+mailing+list>.  Effective Date 2/17/23
  *   U.S Department of Education released its  latest regulatory agenda<https://www.reginfo.gov/public/do/eAgendaMain?operation=OPERATION_GET_AGENCY_RULE_LIST&currentPub=true&agencyCode=&showStage=active&agencyCd=1800&csrf_token=737DA8331380086C1926655266E205B50F063058E5D68E39800A9A7BBCE2846B9B9E9A74BB1ACD83980497CC7807E3EA053B&source=email>! This spring ED intends to release a notice of intent to rulemake to address a wider range of higher education and student loan policies.  Note the following issues ED intends to address:  State Authorization, Accreditation, Definition of Distance Education, Third Party Servicers and Related Issues (OPMs).  This is in addition to the release of Proposed Regulations (NPRM) subject to public comment from Winter 2022 negotiated rulemaking including the issue we have followed closely, Certification Procedures<https://wcet.wiche.edu/frontiers/2022/06/24/whats-happened-to-fed-regs-on-prof-licensure-reciprocity/> which includes new rules addressing programs leading to a professional license or certification and rules affecting reciprocity.
