E-BOOK CONFERENCE NOW OPEN TO ALL TYPES OF LIBRARIES
Scheduled for November 3 & 4 at the Hotel Murano in Tacoma, the purpose of the eBook summit conference is to explore issues of interest and concern around the topic of eBook and eAudiobook collections in libraries. Because the State Library believes this conference will provide relevant information for all libraries that circulate e-materials, eligible travel expenses to attend the conference will be reimbursed.
Registration is open to staff from all types of non-profit libraries statewide, whether public, school, or academic and will be capped at 120 individuals so that small group discussions will be possible within the available space. The conference is sponsored by the Washington State Library and underwritten with federal LSTA (Library Services & Technology Act) funding provided through the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS).
Eligible documented travel expenses will be reimbursed per state and federal regulations. This includes up to two nights stay at the Hotel Murano for attendees living and working more than 50 miles from the hotel venue. Conference room rates are guaranteed through October 21. All registrations must be received no later than October 24.
The conference's featured keynote speaker is Kelvin Watson<https://thelibrarydistrict.org/executivedirector/>, Executive Director of the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District. As co-chair of the ALA Digital Content Working Group, and a Book Industry Study Group Board member, Kelvin Watson will share an update about the state of discussions between publishers and librarians relating to e-materials pricing.
Other speakers include

  *   Sara Jones, Washington State Librarian.
  *   Dr. Tod Cosgrove, Dean of Boise State University's Albertsons Library.
  *   Carmi Parker, Whatcom County Library System, a 2021 Library Journal Mover & Shaker.
  *   Kate Connell, OverDrive Account Manager for Washington libraries.
Session topics include:

  *   Trends in eBook Selection and Purchasing,
  *   Making the Most of your Digital collection,
  *   Sustaining a Digital Library Collection.

The Friday morning session will be entirely devoted to small "round table" discussions of the topics of greatest interest which have been identified by the attendees upon their registration. In a previous iteration of this conference, comments indicated that many attendees found this to be the most valuable and engaging portion of the event.
