[LIBRARYDIR] CTClink chatanhy

Good morning, all. I looked at half a dozen or so examples of the mobile sites today and noticed 0 that had library tiles on them. I am trying to advocate for the library tile, which I think can exist but I have yet to see it. If anyone successfully had a library tile added, please let me know.

Another thing that I rose to our team is "Get My Books" is, quite frankly, a terrible label for a bookstore at any school with a library. It undermines our presence. A "Bookstore" tile is fine by me, but at least acknowledge that the library (with its course reserves) is available as well.

As far as Alma / Primo go, for those libraries participating in that program, I've been working with your institutional leads, and their respective IT and ctcLink project contacts on the patron record integration, as we move through the deployment groups. So that part is being addressed (including the transition to the new ID numbers in Alma). Info about that process can be found at: https://libguides.bigbend.edu/c.php?g=1144226&p=8349529

I agree with Gerie that ambiguity exists around financial aspects of the transition. Namely, how departments on campus approach their primary financial workflows, like budget management, procurement, financial reporting and accounts payable, within ctcLInk. I don't think there is a "one size fits all" answer to those workflows being used across all campuses. So that knowledge might be a challenge to share.

To get some basic idea of workflows in ctcLink, one place I've used is the ctcLink Reference center: http://ctclinkreferencecenter.ctclink.us/ . I don't know how closely it matches the reality of any given institution, but at least it's something.

And one thing I haven't heard much talk about, but would be important to me as a director, is library participation in the planning and design of the personal portal for ctcLink, and making sure the library has a place there. And ditto for any related mobile apps planned as a complement to the portal site.

CAUTION: Originated outside our network. Do not click links or open attachments unless you validate the sender.

I think the biggest impact to us so far at Highline is how to get our bills paid in a timely manner. Financial Services was trying to figure it all out at GoLive and they're still working through it, so we have to wait for them to understand the system more until it works the way it "should". So that's not in our control at all. Right now we're doing a weird work-around that they told us to use to get things paid. It took a long time to get permission to use PCards again. Filling out timecards was the most important thing at GoLive, so knowing how to do that is important for all. Make sure that the new PeopleSoft ID numbers are in Alma after people start activating their new ID numbers.

Thank you to those who are interested in sharing knowledge. I am wondering if a group chat mid-November would be relevant to capture knowledge from Seattle Colleges, as well as those going live in October and early November?? Though perhaps that may also be the busiest/most chaotic. Or perhaps there is room in the fall meeting for this conversation.

Bellevue College goes live also on November 8th! Twinsies!

I have set up online meetings with Pierce College several times to ask questions about the migration to ctclink. I think Tacoma CC and Pierce College are all the way through the migration and their faculty and support staff have an excellent perspective on all the changes you will likely encounter.

I don't yet know what it will look like for us at BC, but I am willing to share out any hiccups or gains we encounter.

Heath

Hello,

Would anyone who has gone through the CTClink transition be open to chatting with me (briefly) about the process and any general thoughts that might be helpful for me? We are going live in February and have lots of support but I haven't actually spoken to a library person about the experience.

Thanks!
