SBCTC Library Leadership Council and WLA College Libraries Across Washington State are pleased to announce our first jointly sponsored webinar open to all academic library employees. Please share with your teams.

COVID-19 Reopening Panel

Wednesday, March 10

1:00-2:30

Zoom - information below

Teams from Centralia College and Gonzaga University will present on their available services and reopening protocols. Time for Q&A will be available at the end and we hope for a lively discussion around this topic.

The session will be recorded and made available for those not able to attend.

Centralia College

Julie Nurse, Library Director and Hyesoo Albright, Circulation Supervisor

Centralia College Kirk Library has reopened with limited services onTuesdays and Thursdays 9 am-3 pm serving only CC students, faculty, and staff. They offer computer access, WiFi, printing, and study space. The library currently partners with a tutor mentoring department that provides limited tutoring in the library during the library's hours of operation. COVID-19 protocols to be discussed include limiting students in the building, requiring masks, collecting ID numbers for contact tracing, and regular cleaning between users.

Gonzaga University

Brad Matthies, Associate Dean for Library Services; Laura Hutton, Head of User Services, and Claire Laska, User Services Associate

Gonzaga University's Foley Center Library was deemed an essential service by Gonzaga's Pandemic Response Taskforce. The presenters will describe how they operationalized COVID-19 safety protocols in terms of safely reopening the physical library to students, faculty, and library staff. Included here will be an overview of best practices, monitoring compliance, changes to library services, the creation of new job duties and lessons learned. Handouts and other materials will be made available to attendees including such things like contactless book checkout procedures, new COVID-19 shift duty checklists, and an innovative way to monitor patron mask compliance via smart devices.

There will be live captions and transcripts through Zoom. If you have additional accommodation needs, please email Erica Coe, ecoe at olympic.edu<mailto:ecoe at olympic.edu>.
