[LIBRARYDIR] Library reserves

We are buying e-versions of every title when they are available, at max license, regardless of cost. We are tracking costs, though, in case there is a possibility of disaster relief funds.

Some titles we won't be able to get electronically, at which point we ask faculty to try and find alternatives, we'll start scanning, or we'll give them to faculty to start scanning.

I'm facilitating a "what are academic libraries doing re: COVID-19" conversation during lunch for the WLA Academic Libraries (online) conference this Friday. I hope people will register and join in if they are available.

We are discussing the same thing (as of today) so great timing.

We do not offer online course reserves at this time. Today I am going through the most popular course reserves and seeing how much multi-user licenses will cost. This may be a partial solution to some reserves, not all.

I'm really interested in learning what others are doing. We aren't going to be open until April 27th (at the verrrry earliest) so this is a crucial service that will be missing from our now-online library services.

How is everyone handling this for spring quarter if you have chosen to shut down the library?

In order to protect our staff and do our part in helping stem the spread of the virus, I chose to shut down the TCC Library for spring quarter (albeit with online faculty librarian support). All instruction is going online at TCC. That said, this means that textbook reserves will not be available. We are checking out class sets to instructors to distribute to students, but the individual textbooks will not be accessible.

I'm getting some push back about this. If you are shutting down the physical library, how are you handling textbook reserves?

Thanks
