[LIBRARYDIR] FW: [SPARC] SCELC Letter of Support for UCs' Elsevier negotiation and open access policies

As many of you know, in March 2019, The University of California System canceled its multimillion-dollar subscription contract with Elsevier, an academic publisher.

Attached is a press release containing a letter unanimously approved by the Statewide California Electronic Library Consortium (SCELC) Board at September 13, 2019 in support of the University of California's position in their negotiations with Elsevier. SCELC is a California based consortium of 113 private academic and nonprofit research libraries. I thought many of you would be interested in this move.
