[LIBRARYDIR] Quick question about gate counts

We too take gate counts (it's here and isn't on a service contract).
I've used the numbers as part of a rationale for some chairs and replacement carpet in a couple spaces, and have used them as part of a narrative of the Library as the center of learning on campus.

We have one (it's been here since before I started) - I discontinued the very expensive service contract last year. If it dies, we won't replace it because we also do regular headcounts.

I instituted a gate counter when I started in 2016. We use a Raspberry Pi to track the door and divide the count in half. It gives us enough of an idea of when we're busy to help us plan for staffing. It's not fancy, but it was under $100.
