Hi, all,

I want to be sure you got the news that Mike Buschman has joined the State Library as the Library Development manager who oversees LSTA funding. He is also interested in joining you as the representative from the State Library. I know he has asked if he may be added to this listserv. I hope you will include him. Meanwhile, he is copied here, so he can get acquainted with this group.

Mike comes to us with a library degree from the UW. He served as a corporate librarian for Microsoft before getting involved in their digital book project that served libraries. He went on to work for Serials Solutions and was a key developer of the Summon product, which aggregates all of a library's journal holdings-those that are part of paid subscription services, online databases and the serials the library purchases. This federated search product was a game-changer for the library world and has spawned many imitators and set a new standard for search which of course evolved to discovery. Mike then started his own company, Plum Analytics, which he sold to Ebsco, and they, much later, sold to Springer. This product pulls together data that tells the story of a journal article and its citation/usage history using data on number of views, downloads, shares, and other ways to determine the importance of a scholarly work. We are so fortunate to have him with us, and he's jumped right in and is making a difference. He's been with us for barely a month.
