Hey all,

I just had a meeting with Carla of Newsbank who was curious how it was going with the database on our campus, and was curious to know more about how other colleges are finding it. We are seeing low rates of use (between 10 and 30 searches per month, with Suggested Topics being the primary way folks access information). As article level inclusion of Newsbank in Primo is still being developed, it's really hard to see any use since we don't include it in our curriculum and advertise it only on occasion at LWTech.

One other piece that came out of the conversation is that customized portals/landing pages can be made for any topic or topics. This was brought up in the context of BAS Degrees and specific research needs for researchers in certain disciplines. Our current trial does not allow for this type of customization, but it was one that Carla emphasized as a potential "selling point" if we were trying to find a place for Newsbank on our campus. Food for thought.

Anyway, I thought I'd just start a follow-up conversation in case Newsbank has been on anyone's mind as of late.
