Yes! This position absolutely works the circulation desk off and on throughout their entire shift and constantly in the evening until we close at 8pm. We always have 2 library staff in the library during any hours we are open. Even our 2 Librarians and myself take circulation desk shifts during the week. I have a full-time specialist, a part-time specialist and we are in the process of posting for a 15-hour paraprofessional position to fill a spot that has been vacant for a year. In a pinch we were able to use work-study students to help fill in evening hours when we didn't have enough staff to work.

Does this position serve patrons at the Circ Desk after 5 p.m.?  I'm curious how you staff the library with limited resources (we are in the same boat).  I would be interested in learning how others are covering their staffing needs.

This full-time, classified and overtime eligible position is part of the Library Team and reports to the Library Director.  This position will be responsible for cataloging records in a variety of sources, maintaining on-line catalog and updating library database records and assisting library patrons. This work is represented by RTC's Prof-Tech union and is scheduled to begin upon selection.
