[LIBRARYDIR] exempt staff teaching information literacy?

I teach information literacy 50 minute one-shot sessions and take a turn at the reference desk.  We are small enough that the library faculty want me to be a practicing librarian to share the load.  I have tenure here and the faculty behave as if that gives me faculty status.

That said, it is my position that I want to keep the faculty status of librarians strong.  I resist suggestions that we hire librarians in positions where they do the work of librarians, but do not have the rank or status.  Part of my rationale is that I want librarians to work from a position of equality with teaching faculty on pedagogical issues.  Another rationale is the moral issue of conferring on those who teach students the respect and privileges their education and training deserve.

I think it all depends on your faculty's contract.  At EvCC, all teaching is the domain of the faculty.  i work with them on goals and assessment of information literacy but under the current contract would not teach any sessions (unless I was hired separately, which is possible) as an associate librarian.  Both our full time and part time librarians teach these sessions.

I believe that was Howard, but I am exempt and teach info lit.  Technically our eLearning Coordinator/evening librarian is exempt too.
