Webinar for Assessment Professionals: Give Input on Project Outcome for Academic Libraries

Do you work in assessment in higher education or academic libraries? Join us for a free webinar on Wednesday, November 14 at 1 p.m. Central Time (2 p.m. EST / 12 p.m. MST / 11 a.m. PST) to share input on ACRL Project Outcome for Academic Libraries. This webinar is co-sponsored by ACRL and the National Institute for Learning Outcomes Assessment<http://www.learningoutcomesassessment.org/> (NILOA).

ACRL is developing a free online toolkit designed to help academic libraries understand and share the impact of their programs and services by providing simple surveys and an easy-to-use process for measuring and analyzing outcomes. Expanding on the successful Project Outcome for public libraries, this toolkit will give academic libraries the resources and training support needed to apply their results and confidently advocate for their future. While outcome assessment may be common in higher education already, the Project Outcome model will offer practitioners access to a standardized set of measures and a free, easy-to-use toolkit. It includes seven patron-focused surveys, an online dashboard of interactive tools for collecting and analyzing the data, and practical guidance on using the results. This toolkit will provide academic libraries of any size the means to easily measure the learning outcomes of their programs and services and to use that data as the basis for improvements and advocacy.

In this session, Sara Goek and Emily Plagman, lead staff on the initiative, will introduce Project Outcome for Academic Libraries. They will address how it can create opportunities for growth or change, explain the theory of change for learning outcomes in academic libraries, and share initial results from field-testing of the new surveys. The project managers are seeking feedback from assessment professionals in colleges and universities as they refine and finalize language to be used in the final surveys included in the toolkit. The new tool is expected to launch in April 2019.

Please encourage other assessment professionals at your institution (beyond the library) to attend as well to help ACRL gather the broadest range of input.
