[LIBRARYDIR] Uses of library fines and fees

At LWTech, we do not generate significant money from fines at this time, and lower loan rates mean lower potential for fines and fees in general.

That said, when we do have fines money, we typically use it the way most other folks have already described-on smaller purchases for collection materials or other costs we hadn't foreseen in our encumbrances.

Similar to our regular budget, we have a cutoff date in relation to the fiscal year.

I do not know of any other boundaries or restrictions for this fines budget.

Subject: [LIBRARYDIR] Uses of library fines and fees

Good morning,

At Whatcom CC we currently use our fines and fees to pay for items above and beyond our normal lines item, eg., we tap fines/fees to cover national conferences (national ALA and ACRL) and some local travel once we've depleted those line items, other prof dev, to fund expensive furniture/white boards, and occasionally collection items.

What kinds of items or stuff do you purchase with fines/fees?
What boundaries do you have in the use of your fines/fees funds?

Thanks in advanced.
Howard
