eLC report to LLC

eLC's Winter Meeting was Feb. 8 & 9.  It was fully online with Regional group options at Big Bend, South Seattle, Everett, Lower Columbia, Tacoma. It went very well and the current plan is to do it again next year.

WA Canvas Conference at TCC March 29 & 30 was SOLD OUT with over 200 attending!  It would be great if we could get more library oriented presentations at this type of conf.  This is one of my favorites as it is WA State folks sharing with and helping each other!


-       Data Analytics (joint ITC, eLC, RPC):  Looking at ways of utilizing Canvas data to examine how it is being used and how it is impacting student success, we are also looking to pilot projects exploring capabilities, and equitable access to tools system-wide


-       Accessibility (joint ITC, ELC): Captioning is huge and growing , VPAT as well, one of our goals is to provide professional development to the system this year.

-       LLC/ELC Group - eLIG and ELC exec continue to meet and talk about a broader strategic plan for elearning

-       LMS: Our Canvas contract ends June 2019, so the contract going out to bid,  we have done surveying of various groups: faculty, LMS Admin, etc. regarding the development of an RFP also so looking for input from 4 years on requirements. Draft is currently in the hands of an accessibility expert, the SBCTC developer for integration aspects, representatives from ITC, and then to contracts specialist at SBCTC for RFP.

-       Zoom: is well liked but comes to us through a K-20 purchase, concerns about continuing the current contract (ends Nov. '18) and the lack of access to the cloud storage under the current agreement.


-       Compliance: prioritizing R&SI (regular and substantial interaction) and audits. Sharing documents. Creating white paper about tools, describe problem and how to manage. Walla Walla created infographic, Spokane created training, recommendations on faculty handbook.

Next Meeting: Joint ITC meeting at Centralia May 8 -9.
