I agree with Christie. Send who you can, even if that’s one librarian. I’m sure multiple libraries have librarians who will not be able to attend and we will want to accommodate for that as we move forward.

And regarding deans attending – I went ahead and registered, but I also only have two librarians. I opted for a room but can take a pass on that if needed.

Hi Stephen,
I am not in charge of this process at all, but from what I know about AiA and the work we are doing in Dumas Bay, the work won’t translate well to virtual attendees.
My feeling would be that if even one person could attend, there is value in attending.
If not, we have year 2 funding for this grant. We can figure out how to use year two funding to move the work to the next level as well as to shore up libraries unable to participate in year one.
Just my two cents,
Christie

The timing on this is problematic for us; our librarians have plans and commitments that either wholly preclude or make travelling across the State in winter very undesirable. Our entire instructional team (4 faculty librarians) could attend virtually on Thursday while keeping two libraries open (last day of finals, no evening hours); sending more than one librarian on Wednesday would be burdensome, even if I can persuade someone else to go. We are under an interim Dean who is not in the library to help with day to day operations – that is why I have taken on the coordinator role. Have you considered opening this up to virtual attendees?

There is only one librarian from Edmonds who is able to attend, so I have registered to attend as well. I won't be staying at Dumas Bay, however, so am not taking up room space.

Hi Mindy
I plan on going even though we are sending a team of three
MaryAnn and feel that there needs to be a core of Deans attend in order to be informed on the training and in the research proposal shaping
But we could, if you like, all wait until the last day of registration to coordinate deans attending and rooms. It would require us to prepare a list of those willing to attend so it can be done at the last minute
Do you agree?

Hi Mary Ann,

If the library administrators count towards our limit of three, I’ll stay home to let my librarians attend. If it turns out you have space later, I’d like to attend. Please let us know if the rooms don’t fill up.

Mindy
