I got two interested people already (if more come in then will have to be selective) but as far as this group goes, Samantha Hines was one of them.

I definitely agree that, given two people, one should represent CTCs.

Seems like we should have a representative from LLC on the WLA Legislative Committee, especially if there is an “ask” for dollars for databases. Thoughts?

Subject: [WLA Academic Library Division] WLA Legislative Committee

Hello academic librarians!

WLA is asking each division to nominate 1-2 members interested in serving on a new WLA Legislative Committee. Responsibilities would include:

- Attend regularly scheduled WLA Legislative Committee meetings (mostly online via Zoom)

- Communicate legislative priorities to represented division

- Assist with WLA Legislative Day (date TBD) to ensure position papers/statements are correct

- Regularly review identified bills, ensure WLA and represented divisions have the right positions, make recommendations accordingly

- Review weekly legislative reports provided by Carolyn Logue and respond if requested.

- Assist in the review of appropriate amendments and help make sure we are “testimony” ready if necessary.

- Provide Carolyn with pertinent information in the event she is the one testifying

- Willingness to testify or readily identify representative who can (if needed — won’t happen often)

If this is something that appeals to you, please get in touch, and I would be happy to put your name forward.

Thank you!
