OC offers two credit bearing Library Research classes.   These are offered online only.

LIB-R110 Internet Research Skills, 2 credits

Description: An introduction to the Internet as an information resource and search tool for academic and personal use. It includes a brief history of the Internet, as well as Internet navigation techniques, search tools, website evaluation criteria, advanced searching strategies and ethical/legal issues involving the Internet. This course covers online resources such as websites, electronic databases, search engines, web portals, listservs, blogs, wikis, library catalogs, and the invisible web.

LIB-R180 Research for the 21st Century, 5 credits
Description: Building skills and techniques for successful lifelong learning in an on-line environment, examining strategies for locating, evaluating, and applying information resources in the research process with attention to information policy issues such as censorship and freedom of information.
Prerequisite: Eligibility for ENGL& 101 and basic computer skills, such as e-mail, word processing.

We also have a newer hybrid Digital Literacy course taught by our eLearning faculty that addresses gaps we found in our Orientation to Canvas general studies course.   We hope to offer more courses in this discipline in the future. 

DIGL 101 Introduction to Online Learning w/Canvas
Description: This course prepares students for success in the online learning environment. Students will identify essential skills required of the online learner, develop strategies to attain those skills, communicate effectively online, access tools and resources, use multiple Learning Management Systems (LMS), and develop problem-solving abilities to address issues unique to online learning.
