NEW VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS RURAL MANUFACTURING GRANT ADMINISTERED BY WORKFORCE BOARD
A new video highlights the success of the Make it in Washington manufacturing grant administered by the Workforce Board. Now in its final year, the grant enables employees of qualified manufacturers to advance their skills through tuition-funded, online training. The Workforce Board is administering this $2.7 million federal grant from the U.S. Department of Labor. Students in remote and rural areas are able to enroll in targeted, business-focused distance learning at Highline College and Shoreline Community College, and Washington State University. Fully Funded Tuition & Training Opportunities for Manufacturing Employees

A $2.7 million federal grant is helping manufacturing businesses across Washington pay for worker training at nearly no cost.
The U.S. Department of Labor is paying for the training to boost the skills of those who work at small and mid-sized manufacturers in rural areas.
All training is online and aimed at boosting staff productivity in even the most remote places, where enhancing employee skills is critical, but difficult.
Manufacturers can also qualify for a business assessment to plan for improvement and growth, through Impact Washington.

Who qualifies for Make it in Washington scholarships
 Who: If you work for a small or mid-sized manufacturer in one of the counties listed below, you may qualify for a Make it in Washington Scholarship offered through Highline and Shoreline Colleges and Washington State University's Engineering and Technology Management program.
Eligible Counties: Adams, Asotin, Benton, Chelan, Clallam, Clark, Columbia, Cowlitz, Douglas, Ferry, Franklin, Garfield, Grant, Grays Harbor, Island, Jefferson, Kittitas, Klickitat, Lewis, Mason, Okanogan, Pacific, Pend Oreille, Skagit, Skamania, Stevens, Thurston, Wahkiakum, Walla Walla, Whitman, Yakima
