I am also interested in how you've made Netflix available, Cheyenne. (you've got all the cool stuff!)

We show faculty how to embed a link from Films on Demand into their Canvas class so that students can view off-campus. I'd be interested in hearing more about now Netflix is set up for streaming. Our student government pays the public viewing license for movies they show. I think the license covers our radio station too (BMI or ASCAP). One big umbrella.

We still purchase DVD/Blu-Ray that faculty could show in their face-to-face courses and we also have worked out a way to offer Netflix for streaming in the classroom. But we really don't have options for streaming programing through Canvas. Our student government will sometimes have movie nights on campus but they pay for the public performance licenses on those specific movies through Swank.
Occasionally we will purchase a DVD where we pay the higher, educational cost for a public viewing license and when we do this type of acquisition we send out an email to the departments or faculty who would be most likely to want to show/view it.

Hi, all,

Do your libraries or media services still purchase videos or DVDs for faculty to use in their courses, whether face-to-face or online? Has your college moved toward the purchase of streaming licenses? If so, whose budget pays for the licenses and who handles the purchasing and tracking of them? If a campus-wide license for some titles is purchased for one faculty member, how do you let other faculty know what titles are available?

Thanks for any feedback you can give me.

Tammy
