Please consider opening this to front line staff who work directly with
these systems. That would expand our pool and they have intimate
knowledge of the processes. Elena tells me that staff were included in
the Voyager RFP development.

Colleagues - we need more participants at this workshop next Thursday;
we've only received
responses from staff/faculty at 10 colleges.
Unfortunately, not all of the responses reached Monica, so I've attached
a spreadsheet - please let
me know:
1) if you have staff/faculty who responded who aren't on the list and
2) if you have staff/faculty who would like to attend - we have openings
in all groups.
I need name, email, 1st choice/2nd choice for break-out group
(highlighted below) ASAP to swinters at tacomacc.edu
Thanks,
Sharon Winters

Subject: [LIBRARYDIR] LMDC RFP Workshop Invitation

This message has been sent to the CLAMS listserv. Please forward it to
any of your staff who might be interested in participating.

Greetings from the LMDC Library Services Platform Working Group -

Last spring, LMDC voted to move forward with the research and
acquisition of a common library services platform and charged this group
with that task. We are now starting the development of a request for
proposals (RFP) and are seeking the input of specialists from within the
CTC system. We plan to take advantage of the RFP successfully completed
recently by the Orbis-Cascade consortium by using it as a model and
fast-tracking our own RFP development. To that end, we are planning a
one-day workshop during which we will:

* hear an overview of the state of contemporary library services
systems;
* review LMDC's objectives;
* edit the operational portions of the Orbis-Cascade document to reflect
our needs; and
* edit the system level portions of the document

Our intended outcome is a working draft of an RFP for a library services
platform to be used in common across the CTC system.

We seek participants who can provide expertise in the following areas
(details are below):

* systems
* collection management
* description and metadata
* circulation and resource sharing
* discovery and user experience

We will limit each group to 8 and prefer that a given library send no
more than two people to ensure a diverse representation from across the
system.

Here are the meeting details:

Location: Highline Community College, more details to follow

Date and time: January 24, 2013, from 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Reimbursement: LMDC will subsidize travel as follows, paid to the
library: $37.50 per person traveling less than 100 miles; $75 per person
traveling more than 100 miles. A light breakfast and lunch will be
provided.

If you are interested in attending please forward your name and primary
and secondary areas of expertise (as listed above) to Leslie
Potter-Henderson, chair of CLAMS, at lhenders at shoreline.edu The
committee will select and notify participants. Please be aware that if
you are selected you will be provided some materials to study in advance
of the meeting.

Respectfully,

The LMDC Library Services System Working Group
