An administrative exempt Director working under the VP of Instruction and Student Services, part of the administrative team of the college.

The decision to hire a director in lieu of having a faculty member who "managed" the library was done before I was hired over 20 years ago, so I have no history about the reasons.  I do know that the decision was part of faculty negotiations the year the position was changed from faculty to administrative exempt.

1.       Library Director

2.       Acting Library Director

3.       Librarian with Director-type responsibilities

Additionally, any information on the process or decision making that led to the type of leadership your library has chosen would be helpful (for example: accreditation requirements, funding issues, reorganizations of departments, etc.) Lastly, if you have someone working in the administrative function but under a special contract or stipend, any information on the amount of the stipend, how that amount was calculated or decided, etc. I realize this some of the information might be a bit sensitive so feel free to email me directly/off-list at Cheyenne.roduin at lwtech.edu<mailto:Cheyenne.roduin at lwtech.edu>.

As we work on possible reorganization structures in the absence of our Library Director, any information would be helpful for our deans in their decision making process.
