DESCRIPTION:

In direct support of student success, direct the operations of the Tutoring and Resource Center (TaRC).  Hire, train, and supervise students and volunteers. Under general direction from a Dean of Instruction, perform tutoring center work using knowledge and experience specific to the program. Devise and implement procedures, rules, guidelines and practices consistent with the mission and goals of the school and the tutoring center. Independently advise students, staff, program participants and the public regarding program content, policies, procedures and activities. Project, monitor, and initiate expenditures for program budgets. Have extensive involvement with students, faculty and staff in carrying out program activities, and coordinate, schedule and monitor program activities to ensure consistency with program goals. Collaborate with other tutoring center directors to help deliver consistent and robust tutoring support services in all areas of instruction.
Position Responsibilities

·         Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Tutoring and Resource Center, establishing work priorities and ensuring that deadlines are met.

·         Demonstrate commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion with delivery of all services and resources. Create a safe, bias-free working environment which supports diversity objectives as established by the college.

·         Coordinate program functions with appropriate departments to accomplish program activities; promote the program on campus; represent the program at meetings.

·         Interview Tutoring and Resource Center tutor and staff applicants, and hire new employees to ensure a diverse staff that is representative of the Green River student body.

·         Assign and schedule work, and recommend disciplinary action when necessary.

·         Collaborate with the Institutional Effectiveness Office to review and analyze student success data (disaggregated).

·         Initiate and process all documentation to hire and compensate employees.

·         Develop and conduct orientation and training sessions for peer tutors and office staff.

·         Advise students, staff, program participants and/or the public regarding program content, policies and activities; recommend alternative courses of action.

·         Plan for future program needs. Work closely with faculty and instructional administrators to incorporate student success strategies, academic probation activities, study table concepts, and other innovative culturally responsive tutoring strategies.

·         Collaborate with the other tutoring center directors on campus and have regular meetings to promote best practices and ensure consistency among the various centers.

·         Oversee instructional resources and monitor any textbook or video checkout.

·         Coordinate with Information Technology for computer, technical and software support.

·         Project, monitor, and initiate expenditures for program budgets.

·         Assist in the preparation of grants and proposals.

·         Oversee the preparation of Tutoring and Resource Center publications and web presence, ensuring that all materials are accessible.

·         Perform related duties as required.
Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:
·         Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science degree.
·         Demonstrated ability to develop, manage and work within budgets.
·         Strong written and oral communication skills
·         Demonstrated experience and skills with inter-cultural competency and humility, and commitment to equity in working with students, communities, and colleagues from diverse backgrounds including under-represented, marginalized, and under-served communities and identities.
·         Effective supervisor skills including coaching and mentoring.
·         Knowledge of computer systems and software.
