Greetings,
I hope you are doing well and have the opportunity for rest and relaxation before winter quarter begins.
The purpose of this message is to share some updates from the Guided Pathways Advisory Council<https://www.sbctc.edu/colleges-staff/programs-services/student-success-center/guided-pathways-advisory-council>.
GPAC 2024-2025 Focus
The first area of focus for this academic year is to identify and propose Guided Pathways performance targets for WACTC consideration and adoption. We held a special work session on December 6 to discuss and gather feedback on metrics, you can review the ideas generated on this Padlet<https://padlet.com/bengobucks/guided-pathways-advisory-council-guided-pathways-planning-fo-1h1d2t6cvluq0bpw>. You are welcome to respond to this message with any feedback or input you would like added to the discussion.
The second focus area for GPAC is to collaborate and provide feedback on a Guided Pathways implementation road map to continuous improvement and deepening institutional and system practices. This road map will support us in telling the story of Guided Pathways accomplishments to the legislature. Complete this brief survey<https://forms.gle/nCJ3HpXczDBnjjtv9> by Wednesday, January 15 to share feedback on system workplans which will help inform what is included and ensure the product of our work is representative of system need and make the necessary impact.
Our next meeting will be held Friday, January 17th from 9:00-10:30 am via zoom.
Student Success/Student Advising Platform RFP
The process toward selecting a vendor for a student success/advising platform has moved into the final stages.
A special acknowledgment goes to the evaluators who invested significant time and effort in reviewing and scoring the 10 proposals during such a busy season. Their hard work has been pivotal to our progress:
* Student: Moriah Reid-Nnanabu (Pierce Puyallup)
* Student Services Commission: Ruby Hayden (Lake WA Tech)
* Advising and Counseling Council: Olla Ibrahim (Renton Tech)
* Accessibility: Kyle Gonzalez (South Puget Sound)
* Registrars: Jenny Wheeler (Green River), Karl Ritter Smith (Whatcom)
* Institutional Research: Roy Calligan (Spokane)
* Presidents: Matt Campbell (Pierce)
* Business Advisory Council: Brett Riley (Wenatchee Valley)
* Information Technology (IT)/Security: Rip Heminway (South Puget Sound), Jill Hammitt (Highline College)
* Instruction Commission: Cathy Leaker (Everett)
* Basic Education for Adults: Ted Mansfield (Bellevue College)
* State Board Staff: Monica Olsson, Saravanan Mylsamy, Dani Bundy
* Faculty: Lucas Myers (Lower Columbia)
Abraham Rocha, Contract Specialist for SBCTC, has been finalizing score compilation and calculation, which will guide us in identifying an apparent successful vendor. However, this is only the first step in a multi-phase selection process.
What Happens Next:
* January
* Vendor Demonstrations: We will move forward with demonstrations from the top-scoring vendors to validate the information shared in their proposals.
* Accessibility Testing: Following demonstrations, further accessibility testing will be conducted, and those findings will be incorporated into the evaluation process.
* RFP Taskforce: Marty Alvarado from SOVA<https://sova.org/our-team/> has agreed to help facilitate and support the RFP taskforce as we move toward finalizing this phase of the project and gathering information useful for taking action toward implementation support.
* February
* Final Decision: The actual successful vendor will be selected based on a comprehensive assessment of the proposals, demonstrations, and accessibility testing results.
The apparent vendor is identified from the proposals alone, but the actual vendor will only be finalized after validating functionality and compliance through demonstrations and testing. Members of the taskforce will be invited to participate in demonstrations as they are scheduled in January. A successful vendor will be determined by the beginning of February and the process of individual college contracting will follow.
The Student Success Center is committed to supporting the implementation of this tool across the system. We are fortunate to have technical assistance from Jobs for the Future and funding from Ascendium to aid in this effort. The taskforce and key commissions and councils will play a significant role in shaping this project and communicating the opportunities as they evolve.
