Subject: 2021-22 Guided Pathways Work plan - SOUTH SEATTLE COLLEGE

All,

I can hardly believe the official start of spring is only days away, and reflecting as I was writing this, it has been a year. A year of not seeing people face to face to celebrate successes, reflect on what brings us individually and collectively to this work, and focus learning and action that supports a vision of “A system that advances racial, social, and economic justice by achieving equitable student aspiration, access, economic progress, and educational and career attainment.” Thank you for investing your energy reserves into continuing to make progress on your campuses in service of our communities.

The 2021 Guided Pathways work plan is different from previous years. We took in feedback from college leaders, the coach team, evaluators, and other partners, and hope the changes result in flexibility colleges need paired with structured ways to prioritize areas of implementation that make a difference in student outcomes.

The new work plan consists of questions to prompt your reflection on current practices across all areas as well as opportunities to identify priority areas where you will especially focus your efforts in the coming year. As you select your college Pathway Design (2) & Student Experience (2) priority areas, consider how each strategically aligns with your college and/or district’s goals to increase meaningful completions and addresses inequities built into the college structures. As such, keep in mind:

• How will you collect input from diverse students, faculty, staff, administrators, and community?

• What do you expect to see as a short, mid- and long term impact of your redesign efforts?

• How do you plan to measure the impact of those changes/ efforts?

• Progress from your college’s 2020-21 Priorities

o Exploratory sequence

o Ensure students are learning

o College level English and Math in Year One
