Hi Pathways Peeps,

I am looking for your help.

Seattle Central College is in the process of creating maps for program pathways in our Transfer degrees. We have a handful of what we call "emphases" with titles like "AA DTA with an emphasis in Equity and Social Justice." The Dean whose division offers classes that fulfill our emphases is concerned that when we create explicit maps for the emphases and share/communicate them more clearly, that it will change students' course taking behavior, resulting in some faculty getting to teach more classes and others less.

As a note for clarification, the emphases aren't new and are posted on our website; students are currently earning them.

For colleges that have created program pathway maps in Transfer programs:

  * Have you found that students have changed their course taking behavior?
  * Are some courses being cancelled due to having maps?
  * Is enrollment increasing in some courses because of maps?

Thanks for any insights.

Best,
Kate
